-West African Huntsman-
-Genus Barylestis contains several species of large, variably patterned huntsman spiders mostly confined to Africa. B. saaristoi being the only member of the genus from Asia. These spiders inhabit tropical regions and appreciate warm humid environments. They are quite active and regularly patrol their environment when hunting prey.
-Provide these spiders with vertically oriented enclosures and layers of flat bark or other structures to perch on and retreat behind. They often 'squirrel' defensivley and rapidly rotate to the underside of structures to avoid confrontation. Avoid wet or swampy conditions, but mist frequently and feed often.
-Like many huntsman spiders, these are quite 'leggy' and diagonal legspan for females is generally 3-4".

All sizes are approximations, as these are living creatures some variables will occur. Measurement for spiders is 'DLS' (diagonal leg span). This measurement method is determined when the animal is at rest from the front leg's natural extension to the rearmost legs natural resting position.
