-Mexican Red-knee Tarantula-

Brachypelma hamorii

-One of the most recognizeable species of tarantulas in the world! B. hamorii are native to the western side of the  Sierra Madre Occidental and Sierra Madre del Sur mountains in Colima, Jalisco, and Michoacan, Mexico.

-New world terrestrial. Found in rocky hillsides, deciduous woodland, and forest margin habitats. They are oppurtunistic burrowing spiders and will utilize abandoned structures or create their own. They appreciate deep enough substrate to allow some burrowing behavior, and a secure pre-built retreat.

-Adults typically display diagonal leg-spans of 5-6" upon maturity.

  • All sizes are approximations, as these are living creatures some variables will occur. Measurement for spiders is 'DLS' (diagonal leg span). This measurement method is determined when the animal is at rest from the front leg's natural extension to the rearmost legs natural resting position.
