-New world terrestrial. These gregarious spiders are found in tropical and sub-tropical grasslands and arid forests of Honduras and Nicaragua. Locality variations between different populations are occasionally recognized and generally reflect the 'curliness' of the bristles.
-This terrestrial spider once belonged to genus Brachypelma and older literature will reflect this. A genus revision in 2020 (Mendoza and Francke) split many of the Central American Brachypelma into genus Tliltocatl. These are active burrowing spiders and prefer deep substrate to allow natural excavation behavior.
-Adult size on mature females is generally 5-6 inches diagonal legspan.
All sizes are approximations, as these are living creatures some variables will occur. Measurement for spiders is 'DLS' (diagonal leg span). This measurement method is determined when the animal is at rest from the front leg's natural extension to the rearmost legs natural resting position.
