-Desert Huntsman Spider-

Cerbalus sp. 'Egypt'

-Possibly Cerbalus negebensis but the Egyptian population of this Genus is still unclear. Stunning white/cream colored terrestrial Sparassidae. The genus has distribution through much of the Middle East and Northeast Africa, but the species in the hobby are originating from Egypt.

-These fascinating huntsman are desert dwelling spiders that inhabit dune formations. They need several inches of sandy soil to allow proper burrowing behavior. The spiders will hollow out a small divot shaped structure in the sand and line it with silk. When not hunting they will remain in this structure unless motivated by prey, or disruptions.

-Males and females are similar in mature size and average 3-4" diagonal legspan.

  • All sizes are approximations, as these are living creatures some variables will occur. Measurement for spiders is 'DLS' (diagonal leg span). This measurement method is determined when the animal is at rest from the front leg's natural extension to the rearmost legs natural resting position.
