-Amazon Milk Frog-

Trachycephalus resinfictrix

-This is a large, variably patterned treefrog native to the Amazon River Basin in Brazil and other Amazonian regions in South America. They are named for the 'milky' secretions they create when stressed or threatened by predators. This secretion is sticky and slightly toxic, though not dangerous to humans.

-This species is easy to care for, provide vertically oriented enclosures and plenty of climbing/hiding surfaces. These frogs tend to spend lots time resting on wide exposed leaves or branches. Hailing from the warm tropics, they prefer moderate and high humidity environments with ambient tempratures in the mid-high 70's. In their natural environment, they seem to prefer branches and overhangs near slow moving water.

-Adult milkfrogs are fairly large and heavy bodied, 3-4" in length is average for most adults.
